5 Ways I Get Motivated To Exercise

With this pregnancy I have been so motivated to get to the gym and release some of those much needed endorphins. I feel really blessed to feel good enough to exercise and I plan on doing what I can up until this sweet little guy comes. There have been times in my life when I haven't been quite as motivated to get to the gym though so I wanted to share with you guys 5 ways to get motivated to exercise.

1. Do What You Enjoy
For me one of the most important things that I can do to get motivated is to find an activity at the gym that I enjoy. If I know I am going to go to the gym each day and do something I hate, then I'm just not going to go. For me, running is my happy place. I absolutely love it, and I get so excited to go to the gym to run. Do I add in strength training because it is important? Yes! But that isn't what gets me to the gym.

2. Think Of How Good You'll Feel When You're Done
This one may sound kind of silly, but for me it is amazing! Sometimes when I don't really feel like going to the gym, I just think of how accomplished and happy I will feel when I am done with my workout and I know that I need to go. I am human and there are days when I am tired, but I can honestly say that every single time I have gone to the gym I come home feeling better and I have more energy. :) Well except when I have morning all day sickness during pregnancy ha! Nothing can help with that for me. ;)

3. Set Goals
Right now my main goal is simply to get to the gym and do the best I can while there. I listen to my body and don't push further than I feel is safe for me and baby. However, with that being said, I still have goals for the day and goals for the week. This really motivates me because I feel so excited when I reach a goal and I love the changes that I see physically and feel mentally when I really commit myself. I'm already looking forward to some of my post-baby goals!

4. Create A New Playlist or Find A New Show
I have to have something to listen to or watch when I am exercising. Whenever I find new songs that have a good beat to them, I am quick to purchase them and add them to my playlist. This gets me excited for a workout because I know that I get to listen to my new songs. I also love watching shows on Netflix during my runs because they make my runs fly by. I save that particular show for the gym only, so it motivates me to go so that I can watch it. My husband will tease me and tell me that I am only going to the gym so I can watch it ha! My latest obsession was Friday Night Lights and I'm so sad now that it's over. :( Any recommendations?

5. Purchase Cute Workout Gear
For me this one is huge. If I have workout gear that both looks and feels good, I will be excited to go to the gym just so I can wear them. Also, if I feel good while I am at the gym, I know that I am going to get a better workout in. In this post I am wearing some of my current favorite pieces. They are comfortable, cute, and stay in place wonderfully!

  11. You are so cute - I'm obsessed with your hair here! Finding motivation to go to the gym is hard enough, but I can't imagine how difficult it is when you're pregnant and it's cold out. I am totally obsessed with FNL as well, I may have watched the series 3 times through, haha! You should check out Parenthood if you have't already - it's done by Jason Katims, the same guy who created FNL. Fabulously done, and FNL actors make the occasional appearance ;)
