Since having Rosalie I have noticed that the areas that I am trying to focus the most on are my thighs and my stomach. I feel like I am making slow and steady progress with these areas, but it is just that, slow and steady. I am definitely learning a lesson in patience, and telling myself that it is totally okay if my body is never the same again. I am just going to do my best, and try to gain more muscle in these areas :)
Thighs
While I love running, I have recently been trying the stair climber, bike, and elliptical as well for my cardio. I love that my thighs are totally burning while I am working out on these machines, because I can tell I am working new muscles.
I know this is totally horrible of me but I hate squats! Yes, I know they are amazing for me, and give me a killer thigh workout, but they kill my knees, and I just don't like them. Instead, I have been doing leg presses to work on my upper thighs, and adjusting my feet to work different areas. I have also been doing leg extensions to help build muscle in my upper thighs.
I know that there is a lot more that I can do to help gain muscle in this area, but I am just taking it one step at a time.
Abdominal Muscles
Carrying a baby definitely took a toll on my stomach muscles, and I have to laugh sometimes when I realize how weak they still are. I still have some loose skin from having Rosalie, and while I think it is going to take some time for that to tighten up completely, I am focusing on working the muscles underneath.
I have found that variations of planks are excellent for me. Regular planks, left or right planks, spiderman planks, and planks where you rotating lifting your right and then left leg are very helpful for me. They kill me, but I love it!
In terms of other ab workouts, I like doing sit ups, leg raises, bicycles crunches, russian twists, and knees to chest workouts.
I also feel like just taking care of this little one is a workout in and of itself. It is also my favorite workout by far! I sure love this little one! :)
I hope this helped any moms out there who are working on toning up these areas too!
