Things That Are Hard For Me Right Now

Now to start off don't get me wrong my life is so good right now and I am so incredibly blessed, but that doesn't mean that some things aren't hard. I love being a new mom and I honestly wouldn't trade it for the world, but it does come with some challenges. There are three things that I can think of that are super hard for me right now.

Rosalie in her cute little jammies :)

The first thing that is really hard for me right now is getting such little sleep at night. I have never been the type of person who needs naps or a ton of sleep at night, but right now I am definitely getting less sleep consistently than I have ever before in my life. I also have a super hard time napping during the day because I can't get my body to shut down enough to nap most of the time. Also, when I do feel like I can actually nap, Rosalie doesn't like to take naps that are very long, so as soon as I fall asleep, she is waking up. Rosalie does have good nights though when I can actually sleep a bit more, and these are the nights that I am super grateful for :) I am also grateful for the mornings when my sweet husband gets up early and takes her for me so that I can get some sleep. I couldn't do it without him! I am going to keep trying new things though, and hopefully I can find a routine that works for us within the next couple of months.

I probably wear this night gown like 3 or 4 days a week because it is so easy to nurse her when I am at home. And since I am always home, I want to be comfy :) My poor hubby ha! I also have makeup on in this picture, but don't let it fool you, this most definitely doesn't happen every day ha!

This is probably a better idea of what I look like on most days ha!

Another thing that is hard for me, and something that I am sure is hard for most new moms, is having to stay home most of the time. As most of you know Rosalie was born very small, and she still is pretty small (about 7.5 pounds). My pediatrician told me to keep her home until she is about two months old or so, especially since there is RSV and flus going around. Now of course I want my baby to be healthy, so I am more than willing to stay home, but I am definitely ready to get out and about more. So far we have taken Rosalie outside (our pediatrician said this was fine), and we have also taken her to my parents house in Vernal, over to my sister's house here in Provo, and also out for doctor's appointments. I enjoyed all of these times getting out of the house, and I loved that I could bring Rosalie with me. Chanse of course watches Rose too so that I can go grocery shopping or run errands, and my mom and sister have also watched her before. But, I am so excited to go and do all of my errands and other things with Rosalie. I love my baby girl, and to be honest I like having her with me when I am doing pretty much anything :) Staying in the house is definitely something that is harder than I thought it would be, but I am so glad that it won't last forever.

The last thing that is super hard for me right now is my body. I was very blessed during my pregnancy to not gain a ton of weight or get stretch marks, but I am still struggling. Things just don't look and feel the same as they used to, and I have a lot of work to do in my stomach and leg area. Most of my old pants don't fit or they are way tight. My hips are also wider now, and while I am okay with this, it makes it really hard to get into my old jeans. I haven't worked out since I had Rosalie, and although I was going to get back to the gym a couple of weeks ago, my nutritionist advised me to wait until I could speak with my doctor. I was and still am okay with this, but I am so incredibly excited to go to my doctor's appointment this week, and get back to the gym! With that being said, I am also dreading going back to the gym because I know that it is going to be hard work to get back into shape ha. I can do it though, and I am most definitely up for the challenge. I have some fitness goals for the future, and I know I am going to reach them. I am planning on doing another half marathon in September, and I am already feeling pumped and excited about it :) I am also working on eating healthier, and cutting out some of the candy and "snack" foods that I have started to eat quite regularly. I will never be a dieter, but I feel that moderation is key for me.

So with all of this being said I probably sound kind of negative, but I wanted to share how I was feeling in case any other woman had these feelings after a baby. Hopefully I am normal, and I am not the only one ha! I am really looking forward to what life has in store for me, and I will keep you updated on how the sleeping goes with Rosalie and my fitness goals :)

I just had to share these little family pictures that my sister took for me. I love my amazing husband and our sweet baby girl so much! I am so blessed!!!!

For the moms reading: What things were hard for you after having a baby? Also, any advice for getting a baby to sleep better at night?

And for everyone: What are you fitness goals?

  1. Hang in there, everyone feels this way after they have a baby. After a couple more months you will be feeling a lot better about your body and be getting a little more sleep. When you do head back to the gym, remember to take it easy. I always over do it every time I have a baby. Just be patient with yourself:)

  2. I recently went back to work and the lack of sleep is hard! I continue to struggle with my body image as well. I just haven't found the time to work out. You are beautiful and will get back to where you were.

We struggle with getting kinley to sleep well at night. I'm no help there sorry. People keep telling me it gets better. Guess I'll wait and see. Hope it's sooner than later for the both of us ;) hang in there mama!

    1. Thank you! I bet working is hard, I am still at home with my baby girl right now. You go mama! Let me know if something sleep wise starts working for you, and I will do the same if I find something that works :) Good luck :)
